Capp’s italian in little italy, san francisco ca.

In 1963 local boxing promoter and raconteur Joe Caparole turned a former Basque restaurant with a turn of the century back bar into Capp’s Corner. Joe offered hearty portions of pastas, seafood, and roast meats served family style on long checkerboarded tables in an atmosphere keeping with his colorful personality. Along with the pasta came his stories and innate hospitability that made Capp’s a lively and welcoming place and the corner soon became a gathering place for the famous and the infamous.
